Love the texture and color of bricks 
and the ruined walls.

Using the inspiration from the texture of the ruined wall

in an interior with modern furniture can be very cool.

One can use a painter artist to recreate the look and 

texture for an interior ... 

Voila!

I have been thinking of tropical colonial style

Using a scroll arms sofa

in white linen and many loose cushions

with dark wood

white and navy ginger jar lamps with soft shades

tropical delight bouquet

could be a pale blue or pale chartreuse wall or palm leaf wall paper 

would yield a classic tropical colonial look

Below African chair would give the space a twist

and a conversation piece

my footsteps in Santo Domingo ...

a city fills with tropical energy and European history, flavors and architectures 

....

The explorer Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he accidentally stumbled upon the Americas. Though he did not really “discover” the New World--millions of people already lived there--his journeys marked the beginning of centuries of trans-Atlantic conquest and colonization.
