Exploring Chinese Scholar's Garden
寄興園
A Ming Dynasty style garden to be found in New York City. One of the gems in this beautiful City!
"The REAL VOYAGE of discovery consists
not in seeking new landscapes,
but in having new eyes."
- Marcel Proust
The garden was to be modeled after a Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) scholar’s garden in Suzhou. The classical Chinese Scholar’s Garden reflects the harmony and balance of the yin and yang through the use of four elements: rocks, water, plantings, and architecture.
The design was done in china and all components were manufactured in China; then evert piece was shipped to Staten Island and imported over 50 Chinese artisans to assemble the whole project. It took about 6 months to complete!
“One of the greatest discoveries a man makes,
one of his greatest surprises, is to find he can do
what he was afraid he couldn't.”
– Henry Ford
This garden would transport you to another era in China; and you would find different beauty and inspiration here in each season.
