Elsie de Wolfe - Suitability, Simplicity, Proportion.

Elsie de Wolfe is a legend in the world of interior design. Despite the fact she is gone for many decades, her influence in design and style has left a profound mark.
I am very much influenced and fascinated by her style and story since school day. The story that she gave her beautiful Villa Trianon in Versailles over to Red Cross during WW I to be used as hospital, ... though she returned to New York City, she found herself restless and miserable; finally she decided to leave her fame and good life behind, packed up and sailed back to France and working as a nurse to help the wounded soldiers.
She was honored by the French government for her dedication and courage as a nurse on the front lines during WWI with Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honor.
